Accelowave Named Semi-Finalist
in BNY UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge
Accelowave was selected as a Semi-Finalist in the 2025
BNY UpPrize Social Innovation Challenge (Early-Stage Track).
The program supports technology-based solutions for critical social challenges, including healthcare, housing, and
disability inclusion. Semi-finalists will compete in the
final pitch competition for up to $75,000 in prizes.

Accelowave Selected for EGC WINS Program
Accelowave was accepted into the Eva Garland
Consulting (EGC) Growth Accelerator Fund Competition – Women In NSF SBIR (WINS) Program. The program supports women-led early-stage companies preparing NSF SBIR proposals, providing mentorship, coaching, and resources to help refine an SBIR application and accelerate commercialization.

April 11, 2025:
Accelowave Wins 2nd Place
in Pitt’s Big Idea Competition
Accelowave secured 2nd place in the 2025
Big Idea Competition, earning $15,000 to continue
advancing the Aspirometer. The competition fosters entrepreneurship among Pitt students and postdocs,
providing experience in pitching, customer discovery,
and translating ideas into impactful ventures.

March 25, 2025:
Accelowave Selected as Stage 1 Finalist
in National Institute on Aging’s
Start-Up Challenge
Accelowave has been named a Stage 1 Finalist
in the 2025 NIA Start-Up Challenge and Accelerator.
This NIH/NIA program supports early-stage entrepreneurs developing technologies to improve healthy aging.
Finalists receive training, mentorship, and sponsored
attendance at a life sciences entrepreneurship conference,
with the opportunity to win up to $65,000 in January 2026.

November 11, 2024:
Accelowave Wins 3rd Place
at Wells Student HealthTech Challenge
Accelowave earned 3rd place at the Michael G. Wells
Student HealthTech Challenge at Pitt, receiving $5,000
to support the Aspirometer. The competition recognizes innovative healthcare technologies developed by Pitt
students and helps advance commercialization
of ideas that improve healthcare delivery and outcomes.

November 5, 2024 :
Accelowave CEO Completes
IBE Cambridge Certificate Program
Dr. Mandy Mahoney, co-founder and CEO of Accelowave,
was selected to participate in the Institute for Biomedical Entrepreneurship (IBE) Cambridge Certificate Program.
She pitched her innovation to investors, gaining feedback
and insights into early-stage commercialization, and
successfully completed the program, further strengthening Accelowave’s strategy for bringing the Aspirometer to market.

March 21, 2024:
Accelowave Wins 1st Place
in SHRS Innovation Challenge
Accelowave Technologies won 1st place
in the 2024 University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health
and Rehabilitation’s Innovation Challenge, receiving $50,000
to advance the Aspirometer. The program supports Pitt
faculty, students, and researchers working on intellectual property with commercialization potential, offering entrepreneurial training and customer discovery.
This award accelerates our mission to improve swallowing health through innovative technology.
